Biography

Dr. Frederick H. Guckes joined our practice in 1998. Dr. Guckes received his education on the East Coast. After graduating from the University of Virginia, he attended Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia. He completed his residency at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C., and served as Chief Administrative Resident in 1996-97. While there he was the recipient of the William F. Peterson Award, and was named the Outstanding Resident of Gynecologic Laparoscopy. Prior to joining Annapolis OB-GYN Associates, he was in private practice in Washington, D.C. Dr. Guckes is a former president of the Maryland OB/GYN Society and Chief of OB/GYN at Anne Arundel Medical Center. He has served as the chair of the Maryland Section of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and continues to serve as a faculty member for the Maryland Patient Safety Center. In 2008 he was awarded the Leadership Excellence Award by Anne Arundel Medical Center. His medical interests include GYN surgery, daVinci robot-assisted surgery, preventative medicine, infertility, family planning and post partum depression. He also enjoys working with menopausal and postmenopausal patients. Dr. Guckes resides in Annapolis with his wife and their three sons. Dr. Guckes' outside interests include biking, skiing, fishing and reading.
