BiographyVicki E. Long is certified by the American College of Nurse Midwives. A native of California, she completed her undergraduate nursing degree at the University of Washington and her initial graduate studies in Chicago. She served two years with the Public Health Services and worked as a consultant for the city of Chicago before moving to Maryland with her husband in 1981. Vicki was head nurse of Labor and Delivery at the Anne Arundel Medical Center prior to joining Annapolis OB-GYN Associates in 1983. While working at Annapolis OB-GYN, Vicki completed certification programs in family practice from the State University of New York at Stonybrook and International Nursing Consultation from Johns Hopkins University. She recently completed her doctorate in Nursing Practice from The Catholic University of American, with research focus on postpartum depression. Vicki is actively involved in undergraduate and graduate nursing and medical education. She has co-authored an award winning book on Telephone Triage in Obstetrics and Gynecology. She currently is an Assistant Professor in The School of Nursing at The University of South Carolina, Aiken Campus. Although retired from seeing patients in private practice, she remains as a consultant to Annapolis OB-GYN Associates. Outside interests with horses and ponies include combined driving and riding. As a recognized international equine photo journalist, Vicki has published photos and articles in the U.S. and Europe on equine topics.
