Biography

Dr. Frederick H. Guckes joined our practice in 1998. He graduated from the University of Virginia and then attended Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia. He completed his residency at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C., and served as Chief Administrative Resident in 1996-97. While there he was the recipient of the William F. Peterson Award, and was named the Outstanding Resident of Gynecologic Laparoscopy. Dr. Guckes is a former president of the Maryland OB/GYN Society and Chief of OB/GYN at Anne Arundel Medical Center. He has served as the chair of the Maryland Section of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He is also serving as the Associate Chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Luminis Health Women’s and Children’s. In 2008 he was awarded the Leadership Excellence Award by Anne Arundel Medical Center. His medical interests include GYN surgery, daVinci robot-assisted surgery, preventive medicine, infertility, family planning, and post-partum depression. He also enjoys working with menopausal and postmenopausal patients. Dr. Guckes resides in Annapolis with his wife. Dr. Guckes’ outside interests include biking, skiing, fishing, and reading.
