Biography
Dr. Merkel joined the medical staff at Luminis Health OB-GYN – Annapolis in the summer of 2014. She comes to us from the University of Maryland Medical Center. Born and raised in Anne Arundel County, Dr. Merkel was educated entirely in the State of Maryland. In 2010, she received the Louis Harriman Douglass Award for Excellence in Obstetrics and Gynecology. In 2011, she was the recipient of the Resident Award for Excellence in Teaching, as well as the award for Excellence in Ultrasonography. Dr. Merkel will be practicing obstetrics and gynecology, and specializes in adolescent through adult gynecology, pre and post menopausal issues, contraceptive/ family planning and surgical management of gynecologic disorders. She resides in Crownsville with her husband, Jeff and their little boy. A few of her interests include reading, cooking, boating on the Severn River and spending time with her family.
